  1. A Good Foil 5 Star Review

Posted by on 29th Oct 2018

I purchased this foil with the exact specifications of: a Foil Guard - FwF Titanium Alloy, 118mm, 48g, a Vinyl guard pad and the Linea Dragon grip Pro. The Linea Dragon Grip Pro is the most comfortable pistol grip I have tried; I am primarily a French grip epeeist. The Linea Dragon Grip Pro is the grip that seems to fit best in my hand; I must state that I have large hands. The grips palm paddle is shorter and does not dig into the wrist in the manner that many pistol grips do, additionally I find the shorter palm paddle to be easier to infight with. The last thing I have to say about this grip is that it has the unique feature of being hollow with the ability to add weight to adjust the weapons balance. As to the guard I have to say that when choosing a guard there is a certain trade off of protection vs weight, so I will simply say that this is up to a matter of personal choice, I picked a larger more protective guard that provides more hand protection and better parrying. Lastly about the blade Viniti’s have a reputation for being both durable and heavy, the reputation for being durable which is well deserved as I have never had to bend my foil back even after 3 months of frequent usage. The Viniti blade seems to be well balanced. As to the weight the weight seems to be relatively average. I have a German tip with an extra thick barrel and have had no problems. I can recommend my current setup. I am giving this foil 5 out of 5 stars.

  2. Stiff but durable 4 Star Review

Several people in my club use this blade for it's durability. It seems like it can take quite a beating before needing to be replaced and is a good practice blade.
The blade itself is much stiffer than I had anticipated. However, I am told it will soften a bit with use. If you're used to an evenly weighted blade, this one will throw you a bit with some weight closer to the guard. It's not something you would immediately notice, unless you picked up a different blade alongside it.
