Hit Indicator - Epee, Favero

During the pandemic my son and I were looking for an inexpensive way to fence together and know who hit. The Favero mini works really well for this with a sound and light to indicate when there is a hit. It can't ground the weapons so you have to be careful about counting hits to the bell guard. The only issue is that the prongs require some effort to get in and out of the sockets on our epees.

The Favero mini hit indicator is a useful tool for the epeeist wanting to check whether their wrist shots and flicks are actually scoring/going off. The unit takes the place of your usual body cord. Two negative issues are: 1.) Favero's choice of battery was poor. It's expensive, doesn't last as long and is not widely available being used primarily for radio controlled model airpolanes. 2.) the construction is not particularly rugged despite the external appearance. Favero actually uses the internal electrical traces as means to hold the circuit board in place connected to the 3 plug pins. And these do break after a while. This is the second one I've owned and I found it difficult to impossible to repair. That said it's the only available product for this purpose.
